Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has expressed profound sadness over the passing of legendary Nigerian folklorist and music icon, 'Gentleman' Mike Ejeagha, who died on Saturday at the age of 95.
In his tribute, Governor Mbah described the late musician as "a legend, a cultural ambassador and a revered son of Enugu State" whose death has created "a huge void that will be difficult to fill."
The governor, who had previously honored Ejeagha during his lifetime by reconstructing Obinagu Road and the adjoining Chief Mike Ejeagha Crescent leading to the musician's residence in Abakpa Nike, has assured that his administration will take further steps to immortalize the cultural icon.

Popularly known for his signature "Gwo gwo gwo ngwo" sound, Ejeagha was celebrated for his unique ability to transform simple indigenous folktales into memorable songs that resonated across cultural boundaries.
