President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday attended the 14th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja, alongside other top government officials and party leaders.
The high-profile meeting, which began at approximately 2:10 pm, brought together key members of the party's NEC, including governors, former governors, and National Assembly leaders to address critical party matters.
Notable attendees included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
The Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF) Chairman and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma was present, alongside Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) Chairman and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as well as several other state governors.
Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Acting National Chairman Ali Bukar Dalori also participated in the proceedings.
BenriNews gathered that a primary agenda item for the meeting was to determine the party's National Chairman position. Dalori, who serves as APC National Vice Chairman (North), has been functioning in an acting capacity following Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje's resignation in June.
The meeting holds significant implications for the party's leadership structure and strategic direction as Nigeria moves closer to the next electoral cycle.
Political analysts suggest that the appointment of a new National Chairman could influence the party's cohesion and effectiveness in addressing national challenges while preparing for future elections.
