Nigerian international striker Paul Onuachu is set to finalize his permanent transfer to Turkish Süper Lig side Trabzonspor next week, following an agreement between the Turkish club and Southampton.

Southampton officially announced on Friday that both clubs have agreed on a transfer fee for the 31-year-old forward, who will now travel to Turkey to complete the necessary formalities.

Familiar Territory for Onuachu

This move marks Onuachu's return to Trabzonspor, where he previously spent the 2023/24 season on loan. During that spell, the Nigerian striker made a significant impact, scoring an impressive 17 goals in just 25 appearances across all competitions for the Black Sea Storm.

Despite his successful loan period, the former Süper Lig champions were unable to secure his permanent transfer from Southampton last summer. This new agreement finally brings closure to Trabzonspor's pursuit of the prolific striker.

Southampton Chapter Closes

Onuachu's time at Southampton comes to an end after two-and-a-half years at St Mary's Stadium. During his tenure with the Saints, the Nigerian international scored five goals in 40 appearances, failing to replicate the form that made him a standout in Belgium with Genk before his Premier League move.

While financial details of the transfer have not been officially disclosed, previous reports had suggested Trabzonspor was looking to secure Onuachu's services for approximately €8 million.

The move represents a fresh opportunity for Onuachu to continue his career in a league where he has already proven his goal-scoring abilities, potentially extending his international career with the Super Eagles as well.
