Cypriot champions Aris Limassol have officially announced the signing of Nigerian international defender Leon Balogun on a free transfer, BenriNews reports.
The 36-year-old center-back has penned a one-year contract with the Light Brigade following his release from Scottish giants Rangers last month after his contract expired.
Rangers Legacy
Balogun enjoyed two successful stints with Rangers, first joining the club between 2020 and 2022, during which he played a pivotal role in their Scottish Premiership title triumph and Scottish Cup victory.
The experienced defender returned to Ibrox two years ago and added another trophy to his collection by helping the Light Blues secure the League Cup last season.
Reunion in Cyprus
At Aris Limassol, Balogun will reunite with his former Rangers teammate Connor Goldson, potentially reforming their successful defensive partnership that served Rangers well during their title-winning campaign.
The move represents a new challenge for the Nigerian international, who brings valuable experience to a club that has won the Cypriot title once in their history and will be competing in the UEFA Europa Conference League next season.
Balogun's addition strengthens Aris Limassol's defensive options as they prepare to defend their domestic title while making their mark in European competition.
