Nigerian international defender Semi Ajayi has completed a move to Hull City, signing a two-year contract with the Championship side following his departure from West Bromwich Albion.
The 31-year-old center-back joins the Tigers as a free agent after being released by West Brom in May at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, ending his six-year stint at the Hawthorns.
Experienced Defender Brings Premier League Pedigree
Ajayi, an Arsenal Academy graduate, played a pivotal role in West Brom's promotion to the Premier League during the 2019/20 campaign. Throughout his time with the Baggies, the towering defender made 170 league appearances and contributed 12 goals.
The Nigerian international initially joined West Bromwich Albion from Rotherham United in 2019, quickly establishing himself as a key figure in the squad. His move to Hull City will be officially completed on July 1, as the Tigers look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new season.
Hull City will be hoping Ajayi's experience and defensive prowess can help them mount a serious promotion challenge in the upcoming Championship campaign.
The acquisition of Ajayi represents a significant coup for Hull City, adding valuable Championship and Premier League experience to their backline as they prepare for the 2025/26 season.
