Nigerian international striker Paul Onuachu is on the verge of completing a permanent transfer to Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, following advanced negotiations with Southampton.
The Black Sea Storm has renewed their interest in the towering forward after failing to secure his services last summer. According to BenriNews, talks between both clubs have reached an advanced stage with Trabzonspor offering €5 million for the striker.
Onuachu previously impressed during his loan stint at Trabzonspor in the 2023/24 season, where he netted 15 goals in just 21 league appearances. His prolific form has made him a priority target for the Turkish club.
Southampton's relegation from the Premier League appears to have accelerated the transfer process. The English club originally signed Onuachu from Belgian side KRC Genk for €18 million in January 2023, meaning they are set to take a significant financial hit on the player.
The 30-year-old striker struggled to make an impact at Southampton, failing to score in his 14 appearances for the Saints before being loaned out to Turkey where he rediscovered his scoring touch.
This potential transfer represents a fresh opportunity for Onuachu to continue his career revival in a league where he has already proven his goal-scoring abilities.
