The Kaduna State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong condemnation following the abduction of the wife of Hon. Edward John Auta Pama, describing the act as "barbaric" and calling for her immediate and unconditional release.

In an official statement released by the party's Publicity Secretary, Hon. Maria Dogo, the PDP alleged that the abduction was facilitated by operatives of the Nigerian Police. The party emphasized that Hon. Auta is a prominent PDP chieftain and outspoken critic of the Senator Uba Sani-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in Kaduna State.

Previous Harassment Allegations

According to the statement, Hon. Auta had previously been invited by the Department of State Services (DSS) on June 5, 2025, following a Facebook post in which he criticized the poor state of road construction in Kaduna State. This invitation preceded the current incident involving his wife.

"The abduction of Hon. Auta Pama's wife is a shameful and cowardly act," the statement read. "We demand her immediate and unconditional release. Should anything untoward happen to her or any member of her family, the Kaduna State Government and its agents of coercion will be held responsible."

Call for Police Accountability

The PDP has called on the Inspector General of Police to control his personnel and direct them to stop harassing law-abiding citizens. The party urged the police to focus their efforts on addressing real security challenges rather than acting as instruments of political repression.

"We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will not hesitate to keep the public duly informed," the statement concluded.

This incident comes amid growing concerns about political intimidation and security challenges in Kaduna State, with opposition figures increasingly reporting harassment and threats.
