Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have taken a firm stance against what they describe as intimidation tactics by the Federal Government, vowing to remain steadfast in their commitment to good governance despite mounting pressure.

The declaration was made during the party's 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja, where the governors accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of employing intimidation and exclusion tactics against opposition parties.

Speaking at the gathering, Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, highlighted the unique challenges faced by the party under the current administration, characterizing the political landscape as one marked by obstacles, subtle provocations, and shifting dynamics.

"Despite these pressures, our members remain steadfast and unwavering. There is no form of intimidation or persuasion that we, as elected governors and members, have not encountered. Yet, we remain resolute in our commitment," Mohammed declared.

The Bauchi governor acknowledged that the PDP has faced a wave of defections and coalition talks that have affected some of its members. However, he emphasized that these challenges have not weakened the party's unity, which he claimed sets it apart from other political parties in Nigeria.

"Other parties have been fragmented, with factions emerging here and there. But it is undeniable that we stand together as one," he stated.

Mohammed also highlighted the party's efforts to maintain visibility and address critical governance issues through state-level meetings across various states including Plateau, Taraba, Oyo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bauchi.

"We have been conducting meetings across various states and issuing communiqués addressing critical governance issues. These efforts are aimed at maintaining our visibility and demonstrating that we are not yielding to the pressures around us," Mohammed explained.

The PDP Governors Forum chairman lauded the patience and dedication of party leaders, describing the 99th NEC meeting as a triumph of democracy and good governance over the adversities facing the nation.

This defiant stance comes amid reports of continued defections from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in various parts of the country, including recent movements in Sokoto State.
