The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 183 suspected criminals following an aggressive clampdown on criminal hideouts and black spots across the state. The operation, which targeted metropolitan areas including Rigasa, Kawo, Tudun Wada, and Sabon Tasha, is part of renewed efforts to enhance security and protect lives and property in the region.
DSP Mansir Hassan, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, revealed that the coordinated operation was spearheaded by Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in various communities. The crackdown has already yielded significant results with the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs.
Weapons and Drugs Seized
During raids conducted in Rigasa on June 13, 2025, police recovered substantial quantities of illicit drugs, including 30 bags and approximately 1,600 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, alongside other dangerous weapons.
In a separate incident on the same day, residents of Rafin Guza discovered an abandoned bag containing an AK-47 rifle magazine loaded with 31 rounds of live ammunition. The bag was reportedly left behind during a police pursuit of suspected criminals. Investigations are ongoing to trace and apprehend the culprits.
Car Theft Ring Busted
On June 9, 2025, operatives from the Kakuri Police Division arrested 35-year-old Ziya Abdullah while he attempted to sell a suspected stolen vehicle. Acting on a tip-off, police officers posed as potential buyers to apprehend the suspect.
Abdullah's arrest subsequently led to the capture of his accomplice, Bashir Usman, also known as Yellow. According to police reports, the suspects confessed to robbing a residence in Gona using knives and cutlasses, during which they stole a Honda Accord that was later recovered in Zaria. Efforts are currently underway to arrest other gang members who remain at large.
DSP Hassan confirmed that some suspects have already been charged to court, while others are still under investigation. He assured that all remaining suspects found culpable would face legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
Police Commissioner's Commitment
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has reiterated the Command's unwavering resolve to combat crime in the state. He urged residents to continue providing timely and useful information to aid police operations and assured them of continued peace across Kaduna State.
This latest operation demonstrates the police command's commitment to addressing security challenges in Kaduna, which has faced various criminal activities in recent years.
