Hull City are on the verge of signing Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi following his departure from West Bromwich Albion, BenriNews reports.

Ajayi, who becomes a free agent after West Brom opted not to renew his contract, ends a six-year association with the Baggies where he made 177 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists.

The Nigerian international endured a challenging 2024/25 season, with persistent hamstring injuries limiting him to just 15 appearances for the Championship side.

Hull City's Defensive Reinforcement

According to Hull Daily Mail, the Tigers are keen to strengthen their defensive options with an experienced centre-back, and they believe Ajayi would be a valuable addition to their squad ahead of the new season.

The 31-year-old defender brings significant Championship experience, having been a key figure at West Brom during both their Premier League and Championship campaigns.

Hull City, who narrowly missed out on the Championship playoffs last season, will be hoping Ajayi's defensive prowess can help strengthen their backline as they aim for promotion to the Premier League.

The move would represent a fresh start for Ajayi, who recently bid an emotional farewell to West Bromwich Albion, stating on social media that he would "never forget" his time at the club.
