Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has opened up about his first season with Saudi Arabia Professional League club Al-Kholood, describing it as a unique experience in his professional career.

The 31-year-old defender, who joined Al-Kholood from Greek club AEK Athens last summer, played a pivotal role in the team's battle against relegation during the 2024-2025 season.

Key Contributions to Saudi Club

Troost-Ekong made 32 league appearances for Noureddine Zekri's side, finding the back of the net twice during his debut campaign. His defensive leadership proved crucial as Al-Kholood fought to maintain their status in the Saudi top flight.

Speaking to Flashscore about his experience in the Middle East, the former Watford player expressed satisfaction with his Saudi Arabian adventure.

"Playing in Saudi Arabia is a different experience and it's nice being part of a project with big names and successful players," Troost-Ekong stated.

International Career Milestone

The move to Saudi Arabia comes at a time when Troost-Ekong continues to lead the Nigerian national team. Recently, he celebrated a significant milestone with the Super Eagles and has been vocal about the team's approach to international friendlies, including their recent match against Russia in Moscow.

Troost-Ekong joins a growing list of international footballers who have made the move to the Saudi Pro League, which has seen significant investment in recent years to attract global talent.
