The Niger State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with thuggery, disturbance of public peace, and possession of dangerous weapons in Minna, the state capital.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the arrests followed reports of thuggery in the Tunga area of Minna on June 9, 2025.
Details of the Arrest Operation
Police operatives attached to Tudun-Wada Division conducted a raid operation between 2 am and 4 am on June 11, 2025, targeting premises of identified miscreants who have been terrorizing Tudun-Wada North and surrounding areas.
The operation led to the arrest of Abdulwahab Suleiman from Behind Nau'zo area in Tunga. During interrogation, Suleiman revealed the identities of five other gang members who were subsequently apprehended.
The additional suspects were identified as Rabiru Bello, Adamu Nasiru, Aliyu Murtala, Abdullahi Abubakar, and Bello Hassan, all aged between 19 and 20 years.

SP Abiodun disclosed that the suspects were found in possession of:
Six cutlasses
A knife
Scissors
Substances suspected to be cannabis
The police spokesperson confirmed that all suspects are currently under investigation and will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further action and diligent prosecution.
This arrest comes amid growing concerns about youth involvement in criminal activities across several Nigerian states, with authorities intensifying efforts to curb the menace of thuggery and related crimes.
