The Niger State Police Command has successfully apprehended a suspected vandal identified as Ndagi Mohammed for allegedly stealing electric cables from poles in Ndejiko village, Edati Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the suspect was caught with rolls of electric cables that he had allegedly stolen from vandalized electric poles in his village on June 5, 2025.

The case was reported to the police at 'B' Division, Bida, on June 7, 2025, following which detectives acted on a tip-off to track down the suspect.

Confession and Recovery

During interrogation, Mohammed, a resident of Ndejiko village, reportedly confessed to the crime. SP Abiodun revealed that the suspect admitted he was seeking potential buyers for the stolen electric cables at the time of his arrest.

"The suspect confessed to the crime during questioning and disclosed that he was looking for a buyer to sell the stolen goods," said SP Abiodun.

The police have recovered the stolen cables and the suspect is currently in custody undergoing further investigation. He will face prosecution for his alleged involvement in the vandalization of public property.
