A violent clash between rival groups in Minna, Niger State has left a vigilante member injured, according to police reports.
The Niger State Police Command confirmed that the incident occurred on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at approximately 3 pm when miscreants from Kwari Berger and Anguwan Roka areas engaged in a fight at Angwan Kadara by the Railway area of Maitumbi.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer for Niger State, stated that during the confrontation, a vigilante member identified only as Waja sustained injuries and was rushed to the General Hospital in Minna for treatment.
Security Response and Current Situation
"Police operatives from Maitumbi Division, alongside other security agencies from Operation Flush, promptly responded to the scene," Abiodun explained. "The suspects were dispersed, and normalcy has been restored to the area."
The police spokesperson further assured that efforts are currently ongoing to apprehend the miscreants responsible for the violence and subsequent injury to the vigilante member.
This incident comes amid growing concerns about community safety in parts of Niger State. Just recently, reports emerged of a forty-year-old resident being murdered in the state, and fresh disputes over traditional leadership have rocked some communities.
Local residents have expressed concerns about the rising tensions between youth groups in the area and called on authorities to implement more permanent security measures to prevent future occurrences.
