Nigerian international striker Cyriel Dessers has affirmed his commitment to Scottish Premiership giants Glasgow Rangers, dismissing ongoing transfer speculation despite his impressive goal-scoring form.
The 30-year-old forward, who has been consistently linked with moves away from Ibrox, has made it clear he has no intention of departing the club this summer despite attracting interest from several clubs.
Impressive Season Fuels Transfer Speculation
Dessers enjoyed an outstanding 2024/25 campaign with Rangers, netting an impressive 29 goals and providing seven assists in 55 appearances across all competitions. This remarkable form has naturally drawn attention from potential suitors.
"With my statistics, it is normal that there is interest," Dessers told the Scottish media. "I still have two years of contract with a fantastic club like Rangers. I don't have to leave."
Overcoming Early Season Challenges
The Nigerian striker's journey at Rangers hasn't always been smooth sailing. He was reportedly close to leaving the club in January after temporarily losing his starting position to Morocco international Hamza Igamane.
However, Dessers fought his way back into the team and ultimately proved his value with consistent goal-scoring performances that helped Rangers compete across multiple competitions.
Future at Ibrox
With two years remaining on his current contract, Dessers appears content to continue his career at the Glasgow club. His commitment comes as welcome news to Rangers supporters who have embraced the Nigerian as a key figure in their attacking lineup.
Despite his club success, Dessers has reportedly expressed disappointment at being overlooked for competitive matches with the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles. This situation, however, doesn't seem to have affected his dedication to Rangers.
As Rangers prepare for the 2025/26 season, the club will be relieved to have secured the commitment of their prolific striker as they aim to challenge for domestic and European honors.
