Galatasaray Vice President, Niyazi Yelkencioğlu, has revealed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen's potential departure from the Turkish club will likely be motivated by financial considerations, despite the player's successful loan spell.
"If he goes, it will be for money," Yelkencioğlu stated in an interview with Ekol TV. "First of all, it is his decision, we are waiting for his decision. If he goes, it will be for financial reasons."
The 26-year-old Nigerian international has completed his one-year loan deal with Galatasaray and is expected to leave his parent club Napoli permanently this summer, with interest coming from clubs in England, Spain, France, and Saudi Arabia.
Impressive Season in Turkey
Osimhen enjoyed a remarkable season with the Turkish giants, netting an impressive 36 goals and providing eight assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. His contributions were instrumental in Galatasaray securing both the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup, cementing his status as a fan favorite in Istanbul.
Despite his on-field success and apparent connection with the club, Yelkencioğlu acknowledged that financial considerations might ultimately determine Osimhen's future.
"We know that his heart is here. Financial matters are also very important, big numbers are being talked about. We will see, we are waiting," the vice president added.
Transfer Speculation Intensifies
The Super Eagles striker's future has become one of the most discussed topics in the summer transfer window. His brother, Patrick, had previously hinted at the player's next move, while Nigerian football legend Jay-Jay Okocha reportedly advised Osimhen on making sacrifices regarding his summer transfer.
Osimhen was recently crowned the 2024/25 Super Lig Golden Boot winner, further enhancing his reputation and potentially increasing his market value as clubs across Europe and the Middle East compete for his signature.
As the transfer window progresses, Osimhen joins other top Nigerian players, including Ademola Lookman, who are poised for potential moves to new clubs this summer.
