Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has narrowly missed out on the Belgian Pro League Player of the Season award despite his impressive goal-scoring campaign with Genk.

The prolific forward, who finished as the league's top scorer for the 2024/25 season, received 24.20% of votes from coaches and fellow players, placing him third in the final standings.

Club Brugge midfielder Ardon Jashari claimed the prestigious award with 32.33% of the votes, while his teammate Hans Vanaken secured second place with 27.79% of the votes.

Despite missing out on the main award, Arokodare's outstanding season did not go unrecognized. The Nigerian international took home two significant individual honors – the Top Scorer award and the Ebony Boot, which recognizes the best African player in the Belgian top flight.

Arokodare's personal success mirrored his club's campaign, as Genk performed strongly throughout the regular season but ultimately fell short of securing the league title.

The striker's achievement adds him to a growing list of Nigerian talents making significant impacts in European football, particularly in Belgium, which has become a fertile development ground for African players in recent years.
