Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu is on the verge of completing a return to Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, with relegated Southampton reportedly close to finalizing a transfer agreement.

According to reports from Turkey, both clubs are in advanced negotiations for the transfer of the lanky striker. Southampton initially demanded €6 million for Onuachu, but it is believed that the final agreement could be reached at approximately the same figure.

The 30-year-old Nigerian international previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at Trabzonspor two seasons ago, where he made a significant impact by scoring 17 goals in just 22 appearances. Despite his impressive performance, both clubs failed to agree on a permanent transfer fee last summer.

Onuachu returned to Southampton for the 2024/25 season but could only manage four goals in the Premier League as the Saints suffered relegation to the Championship for the second consecutive time.

The striker's potential return to Turkey represents an opportunity for him to revive his career at a club where he previously thrived, while Southampton looks to offload players following their relegation from the English top flight.

Trabzonspor fans will be eager to welcome back the Nigerian forward, whose towering presence and goal-scoring ability made him a fan favorite during his previous stint at the club.
