Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli has expressed strong interest in signing Nigerian international midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City, following the Foxes' relegation from the Premier League.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who still has two years remaining on his contract with Leicester City, is expected to leave the King Power Stadium this summer. According to reports, Ndidi's contract includes a £9 million release clause that has become active following Leicester's drop to the Championship.
Saudi outlet Arriyadiyah reports that Al Ahli has already established contact with Ndidi's representatives and is hopeful of convincing the Nigerian international to make the switch to the Middle East. The Saudi club is reportedly prepared to offer the midfielder a lucrative deal to secure his services.
Interestingly, Al Ahli's interest in Nigerian talent extends beyond Ndidi, as they are also reportedly pursuing his international teammate, Victor Osimhen, in what could be a significant double swoop of Super Eagles stars.
Ndidi, who has been a key figure for Leicester City since joining in 2017, has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs as well. However, the relatively modest £9 million release clause makes him an attractive proposition for Al Ahli as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming Saudi Pro League season.
The midfielder's potential departure would mark the end of a successful chapter at Leicester City, where he has made significant contributions since arriving from Belgian club Genk. His move would also continue the trend of high-profile players making the switch to the increasingly competitive and financially powerful Saudi Pro League.
