Spanish LaLiga side Valencia has decided against signing Nigerian international striker Umar Sadiq on a permanent basis despite his impressive performances since joining the club on loan in January.
According to Spanish publication Marca, Valencia will not exercise the €9 million buy option in Sadiq's contract, citing financial constraints and other priorities within the club.
The 28-year-old Nigerian forward joined Los Ches on a temporary deal from fellow Spanish club Real Sociedad during the January transfer window. Valencia paid a €500,000 loan fee and covered Sadiq's entire salary for the duration of his stay.
Since his arrival, Sadiq has been instrumental in helping Valencia move away from the relegation zone under manager Carlos Corberán. The lanky striker has netted six goals in 16 league appearances, proving to be a valuable addition to the team.
Despite his positive impact, Valencia's decision means Sadiq will return to his parent club Real Sociedad at the end of the season unless another transfer materializes. Reports suggest the Nigerian international already has potential suitors in both Spain and Qatar who might be interested in securing his services.
Sadiq's recent form has highlighted his ability to perform at the LaLiga level, with one of his notable contributions being a crucial goal that rescued a point for Valencia against Rayo Vallecano earlier in the season.
The striker's future remains uncertain as he prepares to conclude his loan spell with Valencia, but his performances have likely increased his market value and appeal to other clubs looking to strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming season.
