The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has officially reinstated Alhaji Kabir Sani-Giant as Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris on Power and Politics, following a controversial suspension that lasted several months.

Sani-Giant was suspended on February 28, 2025, after allegedly bringing a snake into the Government House during a political gathering on February 8. The unusual incident reportedly aimed to intimidate politicians and dignitaries present at the venue, sparking widespread criticism across the state.

The reinstatement was announced on Monday through an official statement issued by APC state chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Kana-Zuru. According to the statement, the decision followed a comprehensive review by the State Working Committee (SWC) during its meeting held last Tuesday.

Kana-Zuru revealed that the party's decision was influenced by a written apology submitted by Sani-Giant expressing remorse for his actions. The committee subsequently resolved to withdraw the suspension, restoring his full party membership and official responsibilities.

"Following the deliberations of the committee and in view of your appeal and expressed remorse, the party has resolved to lift your suspension," the statement read. "You are hereby directed to resume your duties and your rights and privileges are fully restored."

The incident had created significant tension within Kebbi's political circles, with many questioning the appropriateness of bringing a potentially dangerous reptile into a government facility. Details about any additional disciplinary measures or conditions attached to the reinstatement were not disclosed in the statement.

Political observers in the state note that this reinstatement comes at a time when the APC is working to maintain party unity ahead of upcoming political activities in the region. The unusual nature of the original incident had drawn national attention to governance issues in Kebbi State.
