The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has firmly stated that while it welcomes defectors from other political parties, it will not compromise its existing leadership structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The declaration was made by the party's State Chairman, Engineer Bala Sufiyanu, during a press briefing held on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi, as the party prepares to receive defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

"We are glad to welcome new members who believe in the ADC's vision and are ready to work for a better Kebbi State," Sufiyanu stated. "However, it must be clearly understood that our leadership positions are not up for grabs. The party's structure remains intact, and no defector, no matter how influential, will be allowed to displace those duly elected to lead."

Sufiyanu emphasized that there is no formal or informal agreement requiring current party officials to step down for incoming members. He asserted his position as the legally recognized and constitutionally elected State Chairman of the ADC in Kebbi, stating that the party is not entertaining any form of leadership reshuffling to accommodate external interests.

"I remain the legally recognized and constitutionally elected State Chairman of the ADC in Kebbi. There is no dispute about that, and we are not entertaining any form of leadership reshuffling to satisfy external interests," he affirmed.

According to the chairman, the party is steadily gaining ground ahead of the 2027 General Elections, with increasing interest from individuals and groups across various sectors in the state.

"Our doors remain open to all well-meaning citizens who wish to join us in building a new political direction for Kebbi State," he said. "But unity and discipline within our ranks are non-negotiable. Leadership positions must be earned through the party's democratic processes, not by political shortcuts."

Sufiyanu also reaffirmed the ADC's resolve to contest and win all key elective offices in the 2027 polls, noting that strategic planning and grassroots mobilization efforts are already in motion to achieve this objective.

The statement comes amid growing political realignments in Kebbi State as parties begin early preparations for the 2027 electoral contest, with the ADC positioning itself as a viable alternative to the dominant APC and PDP in the state.
