Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, on Thursday visited Tadurga community in Zuru Local Government Area to sympathize with residents affected by a recent bandit attack that left many displaced and homes destroyed.
The visit followed a directive from Governor Nasir Idris, who expressed deep concern over the attack and dispatched his deputy to convey the government's condolences and solidarity with the victims.
Extent of the Attack
BenriNews gathered that the attack, which occurred earlier in the week, resulted in significant destruction of several homes, forcing many residents to flee for safety. While casualty figures remain unconfirmed, community sources indicated that the assault caused substantial displacement and loss of property.
During his address to the community, Senator Tafida strongly condemned the incident and assured residents that the government is implementing measures to strengthen security across the region.
"The state government is committed to ensuring that peace and normalcy are restored to affected areas," the deputy governor stated, reaffirming the administration's dedication to protecting its citizens.
Government Response
Senator Tafida was accompanied by traditional leaders, local government officials, and representatives of security agencies during the visit. Security forces have reportedly intensified patrols in the area following the attack.
Efforts are currently ongoing to assist displaced residents and rebuild damaged structures as part of the government's response to the crisis.
This attack on Tadurga comes amid growing concerns about banditry in parts of Kebbi State, with local communities calling for increased security presence and more proactive measures to prevent future incidents.
