Armed bandits have killed multiple residents of Tadurga village in Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State in a devastating night raid on Monday. The attackers also abducted several villagers and rustled livestock during the assault.

According to Audu Sule, a resident who witnessed the attack, the bandits arrived in large numbers and opened fire indiscriminately, causing widespread panic throughout the community.

"They came en masse, shooting indiscriminately, broke into shops to loot items, then went on to kill as many as they could, abduct people, and rustle our cows," Sule recounted.

Another resident, Abdullah Zuru, noted that the attack came as a surprise following a period of relative peace in the area. He mentioned that government efforts had previously driven armed bandits away from the region, allowing farmers to return to their fields and achieve a bumper harvest.

"Despite this recent attack, Zuru Emirate has been experiencing relative peace," Abdullah added.

Residents expressed shock at what they described as the highest number of killings and kidnappings since Governor Nasir Idris assumed office.

BenriNews attempted to reach the spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, Nafiu Abubakar, for comment, but he did not respond to calls regarding the incident.

This attack adds to the growing concern about insecurity in Nigeria's northwestern states, where banditry has disrupted rural communities and agricultural activities.
