Multiple persons are feared dead following a violent attack by suspected bandits on Yar Goje community in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State on Thursday evening.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, who disclosed the incident on Friday via his X handle, the attackers stormed the village shooting sporadically, resulting in several fatalities and injuries while abducting an undisclosed number of residents.
"Yesterday evening, bandits invaded Yar Goje community in Kankara LGA, Katsina State, shooting sporadically. They killed multiple people, injured many people and abducted several others peoples during the invasion," Bakatsine wrote.
Security Response Awaited
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Katsina State Police Command nor other security agencies have released an official statement regarding the attack.
The Kankara area has previously been a hotspot for bandit activities in Katsina State, with this latest attack adding to growing concerns about insecurity in Nigeria's northwestern region.
This incident comes amid ongoing security challenges in the region, where armed groups have carried out numerous attacks on rural communities, resulting in deaths, injuries, and kidnappings.
