Nigerian Army troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully neutralized Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist kingpin, Mallam Jidda, during operations in Ngazalgana, Gujba Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to a statement by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Headquarters, Theatre Command Operation, the troops encountered the terrorists in Ngazalgana and subdued them with superior firepower, resulting in the elimination of Mallam Jidda while other terrorists fled with gunshot wounds.
In a related development, troops conducting a snap ambush in the Timbuktu Triangle engaged another group of terrorists with heavy fire, neutralizing several of them during the encounter.
Significant Weapons Recovery
The military operation yielded substantial arms and equipment recovery, including AK-47 rifles, motorcycles, large quantities of ammunition, AK-47 rifle magazines, rocket-propelled gun tubes, hand grenades, handheld radios, and various other items.
This successful operation represents another significant blow to terrorist operations in Nigeria's northeast region, where security forces continue to combat insurgency.
The elimination of high-profile terrorist leaders like Mallam Jidda is expected to disrupt command structures and weaken the operational capabilities of terrorist groups in the area.
Military operations against terrorist elements have intensified in recent months across Borno State and other affected regions as part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and security to Nigeria's northeast.
