Nigerian Armed Forces have recorded a significant victory in the ongoing counter-terrorism operations with the neutralization of Malam Jidda, a high-ranking commander of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The operation was carried out in Ngazalgana village, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, according to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama.

Details of the Operation

During the special operation, troops made direct contact with ISWAP fighters and successfully eliminated Malam Jidda, who was identified as the Ameer (leader) of terrorist activities in Ngorgore and Malumti villages.

Military sources revealed that troops recovered several key items from the scene, including AK-47 rifles, multiple magazines, and a motorcycle that had been used by the insurgents.

Additional Counter-Terrorism Successes

In a separate operation on the Timbuktu Triangle axis, a snap ambush team deployed by Nigerian troops engaged ISWAP elements in what was described as a "swift and decisive encounter." Several terrorists were neutralized, and troops recovered additional AK-47 rifles and various categories of ordnance.

Similarly, in the Abadam axis of northern Borno, troops conducting exploitation following a recent encounter in Mallamfatori continued to recover more bodies of terrorists and an assortment of abandoned weapons.

"The terrorists fled in disarray, leaving behind weapons of different calibres after the ferocious counter attack by the gallant troops," a military source stated.

Security analysts consider Malam Jidda's death a significant setback to ISWAP's operations in the region, potentially disrupting the group's command structure and operational capabilities in northeastern Nigeria.

These operations demonstrate the Nigerian military's continued commitment to eliminating terrorist threats and restoring peace and security to affected regions.
