Troops under the Joint Task Force North-East Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised a notorious ISWAP commander, identified as Malam Jidda, in Borno State while recovering significant arms cache during multiple operations across the North-East region.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the successful operation forms part of intensified counterterrorism offensives currently being conducted by Nigerian military forces throughout the troubled region.
Special Operations Yield Results
The troops conducted a special operation at Ngazalgana village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, where they made contact with terrorists and successfully neutralised Malam Jidda, who was identified as the Ameer (leader) of Ngorgore and Malumti villages.
Following the encounter, military personnel recovered several items including AK-47 rifles, magazines, and a motorcycle that had been used by the terrorists for mobility in the area.
In a separate operation on the Timbuktu Triangle axis, a snap ambush team deployed by the troops engaged Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements in what sources described as a "swift and decisive encounter." Several terrorists were neutralised during this engagement, with troops recovering additional AK-47 rifles and various categories of ordnance.
Continued Success in Abadam
The military's success extended to Abadam in Borno State, where troops conducting exploitation following a recent encounter in Mallamfatori continued to recover more bodies of terrorists as well as abandoned weapons.
These ongoing operations represent coordinated efforts by the Nigerian military to degrade terrorist enclaves and restore stability to affected communities across the North-East, which has long suffered from insurgency.
The elimination of Malam Jidda marks another significant blow to ISWAP's command structure in the region, following several successful operations against the terrorist group in recent months.
Military sources indicate that the operations will continue as part of the broader strategy to completely eliminate terrorist threats in Nigeria's North-East region.
