The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and a suspected stolen motorcycle during a stop-and-search operation conducted along the Giza-Kadarko road in Keana Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ramhan Nansel, the operation was initiated following credible intelligence received by the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, indicating that a suspected criminal was transporting firearms through the area.
Strategic Police Operation
"On June 7, 2025, at about 16:00, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, received credible intelligence regarding the movement of a suspected criminal transporting arms and ammunition," the statement revealed.
Acting swiftly on this report, the Commissioner ordered a coordinated manhunt to apprehend the suspect. Police operatives from Giza Division subsequently mounted a strategic stop-and-search operation along the Giza-Kadarko Road.
During the operation, officers intercepted a suspicious individual riding an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle. The suspect abandoned the motorcycle and fled the scene upon sighting the police checkpoint.

DSP Nansel further stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and to trace the origin and intended use of the recovered items.
