The Niger State Police Command has arrested 20 suspects during a raid on identified criminal hideouts in Suleja Local Government Area, as part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities across the state.

The operation, conducted by officers of the Suleja Division, was led by the Divisional Police Officer of Maje Division with support from patrol teams from the Suleja Area Command. The raid began at approximately 9 pm on June 14, 2025, and continued into the early hours of June 15.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the operation targeted blackspots and criminal hideouts in several areas including Kaduna Road, Dikko Junction, Hayin-Kaduna, and Gauraka.

Suspects and Recovered Items

The 20 arrested suspects, aged between 18 and 34 years, reportedly failed to provide satisfactory explanations for their presence at these locations during the time of the raid.

Those arrested include Bello Habu, Mohammed Idris, Michael Aitesebaomo, Baba Dan'audu, Abdulsalam Yusuf, Emmanuel Samuel, Williams John, Abdul Kabiru, Abdullahi Babaiya Mohammed, and Samaila Musa. Others are Lukman Musa, Michael Peter, Valentine Arinze, Magaji Haruna, Umar Abdullahi, Mohammed Bala, Salisu Abubakar, Kabir Tukur, Abdullahi Jamilu, and Salisu Abdullahi.

During the operation, police recovered 134 wraps of suspected cannabis, 24 sachets of tramadol, 264 other illicit drugs, a bottle of codeine, three machetes, and two Bajaj motorcycles.

The suspects have been transferred to the Suleja Area Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.

This operation is part of the Niger State Police Command's intensified efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents.
