The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and apprehended a suspect who was demanding a ransom of ₦1 million from a resident, according to a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
The incident occurred on June 7, 2025, when a resident reported receiving threatening calls from an unknown person demanding the payment. Acting swiftly on the information, the police launched an immediate operation in collaboration with local hunters.
Suspect Arrested During Ransom Collection
During a carefully coordinated raid, the police apprehended 32-year-old Manu Ahmadu at Kamsu village in Hong Local Government Area. The suspect was caught while attempting to collect the ransom package he had instructed to be dropped at a specific location.
"During the operation, one Manu Ahmadu, 32 years was apprehended at a certain location while attempting to pick up the package he demanded to be dropped at a particular place situated at a remote site of Kamsu village, Hong local government area," SP Nguroje stated.
The police spokesperson further revealed that the suspect attempted to disarm one of the local security agents during the arrest, which prompted a defensive response resulting in injury to the suspect from the minimum force applied.

Adamawa Police Commissioner Dankombo Morris has reaffirmed the Command's dedication to ensuring public safety across the state. He appealed for continued support and assistance from residents in the fight against crime.
The police authorities have assured that formal charges will be brought against the suspect upon completion of their investigation.
This successful operation highlights the effectiveness of community-police collaboration in combating kidnapping attempts, which have been a growing concern in several parts of Nigeria.
