The Benue State Police Command has deployed additional tactical teams to Apa and Gwer West Local Government Areas following deadly attacks by suspected bandits that claimed several lives.

Commissioner of Police, CP Emenari Ifeanyi, ordered the immediate reinforcement of security presence in these areas after a renewed wave of violence saw bandits launch fresh assaults on communities in Apa and Naka, Gwer West LGA.

According to the state police Public Relations Officer, Udeme Edet, the additional deployments are strategically positioned to strengthen surveillance operations, secure entry and exit points, and prevent further unprovoked attacks on vulnerable communities.

"The Commissioner of Police reassures residents of the Command's unwavering commitment to restoring peace and order, and vows to pursue the perpetrators until they are brought to justice under the law," Edet stated.

CP Emenari has also extended his condolences to families who lost loved ones in the attacks, assuring them that no effort will be spared in protecting lives and property across Benue State.

The Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations against the perpetrators.

This security response comes amid growing concerns over the safety of communities in Benue State, which has witnessed recurring attacks in recent years. The latest reinforcements are part of broader efforts to address insecurity in the affected local government areas.

The police tactical teams are expected to maintain a visible presence in the affected communities while conducting operations to apprehend those responsible for the attacks.
