The Kano State Censorship Board has issued a stern warning to event centers, DJs, and entertainment venues against promoting or accommodating indecent behavior during this year's Eid celebration.

In a statement released by the board's spokesperson, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, on behalf of Lawan Hamisu Dan Hassan, Director of the Film and Publications Department, the board emphasized that "free mixing" between males and females is strictly prohibited during the festive period.

The board has established a special task force to monitor activities across entertainment venues throughout the Eid celebration. This committee will operate under the supervision of Alhaji Lawan Hamisu Dan Hassan and will work both covertly and openly from the first to the last day of Eid to ensure full compliance with regulations.

Strict Enforcement Measures

According to the statement, the committee will deny entry to individuals wearing indecent attire or those under the influence of substances at entertainment spots. The board has vowed to clamp down on any entertainment venue found promoting indecent dressing during the festive period.

"The committee would ensure no free mixing and indecent dressers or those under influence are denied entry into all entertainment spots," the statement read.

The Director issued a stern warning to owners of event centers, clubs, and DJs to adhere strictly to the board's regulations or face consequences. The nature of these consequences was not specified in the statement.

Call to Parents

The board also urged parents to continue guiding their children with good morals and to pray for a peaceful and successful Eid celebration.

This directive comes amid increasing concerns about moral standards during festive periods in Kano State, which has previously implemented various measures to regulate social and entertainment activities in accordance with religious and cultural values.

The Kano State Censorship Board has been active in regulating entertainment content and public behavior in the state, with recent actions including the suspension of popular Hausa series over censorship violations and the ban of certain celebrations across the state.
