The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano Sector Command has launched a comprehensive week-long special patrol operation aimed at ensuring the safety of road users during the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The operation, which commenced today, will run until Wednesday, June 11, 2025, according to a statement issued by the command's Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran.
Labaran explained that the special patrol was initiated in response to the anticipated high volume of vehicular movement typically experienced during festive periods. The primary objective is to ensure a hitch-free and crash-free Sallah celebration across Kano State.
Operational Resources and Strategy
"To achieve these objectives, the command will deploy 1,889 personnel, comprising 1,348 Regular Marshals and 541 Special Marshals, with 24/7 standby provision of five ambulance service points for prompt rescue and emergency response," the statement revealed.
Additionally, mobile courts will be strategically positioned along major routes across the state to prosecute traffic offenders who violate road safety regulations during the festive period.
The Sector Commander, CC MB Bature, has issued a stern warning against dangerous and reckless driving practices, including overloading, car racing, underage driving, and other traffic violations during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Related Safety Measures
This special patrol operation comes amid other Eid-related announcements in Kano, including the police reiterating restrictions on Durbar celebrations for security reasons, and Emir Sanusi summoning district heads for the traditional Durbar ceremony.
The FRSC's initiative aligns with similar efforts in other states, such as Kwara, where the Corps has also deployed personnel to ensure road safety during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Motorists and other road users in Kano are advised to cooperate with FRSC officials and adhere to all traffic regulations to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration for all.
