Professor Bernard Odoh, former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), has urged the Ebonyi State government to increase investment in technology to ensure the state's competitiveness in the coming decades.
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, the state capital, Odoh emphasized that technological advancement, coupled with quality learning environments, would secure Ebonyi's future in an increasingly digital world.
"Education is the best law in the world," Odoh stated, while commending Governor Francis Nwifuru for his achievements in the education sector. He encouraged the governor to continue prioritizing educational development across the state.
Odoh, who was the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 elections, also praised Nwifuru's efforts in fostering peace and improving security in Ebonyi State. He revealed that he had personally reached out to the governor to commend his work in addressing security challenges.
When questioned about his political ambitions for the 2027 elections, Professor Odoh declined to discuss politics, stating: "I'm focused on building my agenda for personal development. 2027 is too early to talk about."
The former university administrator's call for increased technology investment comes at a time when digital literacy and technological infrastructure are becoming increasingly vital for economic development and educational advancement in Nigeria's eastern states.
