The Kano State Government has issued a stern warning to youths involved in violent activities across the state, declaring that perpetrators disrupting public peace will face the full weight of the law.
The warning came from the Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, Retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Ibrahim Umar, during a security assessment visit to Kurna Tudun Fulani in Dala Local Government Area, a location recently plagued by violence.
"Let me be clear: anyone caught instigating violence or threatening the peace of our communities will be dealt with according to the law," AVM Umar warned while leading a team of security operatives and ministry officials to the troubled area.
The commissioner's visit follows a recent communal clash that resulted in the death of a resident, Abba Sa'idu Mai Hula, and significant property destruction in the area. The rising incidents of youth-led violence across Kano communities were described by the commissioner as "unacceptable and dangerous to public safety."
Call for Community Collaboration
AVM Umar emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining security, urging residents to take ownership of peace initiatives in their neighborhoods.
"The security issue is everyone's responsibility. All hands must be on deck to safeguard the lives of citizens," he stated, highlighting the government's commitment to collaborative security efforts.
During the visit, the Ward Head of Kurna Tudun Fulani, Malam Usaini Ibrahim, appealed to the government to intensify interventions against gangs and criminal groups disturbing the peace in the area. He proposed converting a local dumpsite into a police outpost, suggesting this would serve as a deterrent to miscreants operating in the vicinity.
The government's warning comes amid growing concerns about youth violence in various parts of Kano State, with authorities now taking a more decisive stance against perpetrators to ensure public safety and maintain order.
