The Office of the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has officially disowned a fraudulent financial grant scheme being circulated on social media platforms in his name.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, the office categorically denied any involvement in the scheme, describing it as a criminal attempt to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

"The message circulating on social media claiming that His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, is offering financial grants is completely false," the statement emphasized.

Shuaibu further clarified that neither the Deputy Governor, his aides, nor any of his family members have knowledge of or involvement in such a scheme, urging the public to disregard the fraudulent messages.

Legal Implications for Perpetrators

The statement highlighted the serious legal consequences for those behind the scam, noting that such activities constitute cybercrime under Nigerian law.

"This act constitutes cybercrime, and anyone found to be involved will face the full weight of the law," Shuaibu warned in the statement.

The Deputy Governor's office encouraged citizens to report anyone promoting the fake grant scheme to appropriate law enforcement authorities for immediate action.

Public Advisory

The statement advised Kano residents and the general public to remain vigilant against such fraudulent schemes, which have become increasingly common on social media platforms.

"We call on the public to be cautious and avoid falling victim to such criminal tricks. Official information from the Deputy Governor's office will always be communicated through verified platforms," the statement added.

Citizens are reminded to verify information through official government channels before responding to offers or requests that appear too good to be true, especially those requiring personal or financial information.
