The Ogun State Government has sealed six industrial facilities across the state for various environmental infractions, according to an announcement made on Thursday by Farouk Akintunde, the Special Adviser to the Governor on the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA).
The affected companies include Winwin Electrical Limited, Isichei Farms Limited, and Chafengei Nigeria Limited, all located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. These three facilities were specifically sealed for air pollution violations.
Other sealed businesses include Fortune Height Farms Limited in Odogbolu Local Government Area, which was resealed after breaking a previous government seal and resuming operations despite earlier sanctions for discharging untreated effluent into the environment.
Loly B and DA Ventures Limited, grain cleaning operations based in Ijebu-Ode, were also shut down for violating a stop-work order previously issued by the environmental agency.
Akintunde, who also serves as chairman of the state's Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, explained that Adventus Nigeria Limited, a tube processing factory along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, was sealed for exposing workers to environmental hazards and operating without providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Isichei Farms Limited, a poultry feed producer, was additionally cited for violating a stop-work order issued by the agency.
The OGEPA boss reiterated the agency's commitment to ensuring all industries operating within Ogun State comply with established environmental laws and regulations. This enforcement action appears to be part of ongoing efforts by the state government to maintain environmental standards and protect public health.
