Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has officially sworn in retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Ibrahim Umaru as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services during the 28th Kano State Executive Council meeting held on Monday at Kwankwasiyya City.
According to a statement released by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Umaru's appointment was based on merit and his demonstrated capacity to effectively coordinate security operations across the state.
Governor Yusuf highlighted Umaru's extensive expertise in critical security roles and distinguished military career as key factors that make him the ideal candidate to lead Kano's internal security efforts.
"Umaru's expertise in critical security roles and his distinguished military career make him ideal to lead our internal security efforts," the governor stated during the ceremony.
The governor further charged the new commissioner to leverage his experience in addressing the security challenges currently facing Kano State, emphasizing his expectation that Umaru would "work tirelessly to keep Kano safe and prosperous for all citizens."
Prior to his appointment as Commissioner, Umaru served as the Director-General of the Special Services Directorate at the Kano State Government House, bringing valuable institutional knowledge to his new role.
The appointment comes at a time when security concerns remain a priority for the state government, with the new commissioner expected to coordinate efforts across various security agencies to maintain peace and order throughout Kano State.
