Wikki Tourists head coach, Abdullahi Maikaba, has expressed strong confidence that his team will secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season following their impressive performance in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
The Bauchi Elephants sealed their qualification for the NNL Super Eight playoff tournament after finishing top of their group, culminating in a commanding 4-1 victory over Zamfara United in their final group game on Sunday in Bauchi.
"When I arrived, the goal was clear, qualify for the Super Eight and bring Wikki Tourists back to the Premier League," Maikaba told Wikki Tourists media. "We are on the right path. With the caliber of players in our squad and continued support, I believe we will achieve promotion."
Wikki Tourists joins Barau FC, Yobe Desert Stars, and Doma United as the four teams that have already qualified for the prestigious playoff tournament. The remaining four participants will be determined from the Southern Conference A and B.
The Super Eight playoff tournament serves as the final hurdle for teams seeking promotion to Nigeria's top-flight football league. With Maikaba's experience and the team's current form, Wikki Tourists appears well-positioned to make a strong case for their return to the NPFL.
Football fans in Bauchi have rallied behind the team throughout the season, and their support will be crucial as Wikki Tourists prepares for the challenging playoff stage in their quest for NPFL promotion.
