Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially appointed retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Ibrahim Umaru as the new Commissioner for Internal Security during the 28th Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Kwankwasiyya residential area.
Prior to this appointment, AVM Umaru served as the Director-General of the Directorate of Special Services at the Kano State Government House, where he oversaw various security operations within the state.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Yusuf urged the newly appointed commissioner to discharge his duties with integrity, transparency, and a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Kano residents.
The oath of office was administered by Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi, the state's Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General.
AVM Umaru, who brings extensive experience from his career as a senior officer in the Nigerian Air Force, is expected to strengthen the state's security architecture and address internal security challenges facing Kano State.
This appointment comes at a time when security remains a critical concern across northern Nigeria, with the state government intensifying efforts to ensure the safety of its citizens.
