South African singer and Grammy winner Tyla is set to make history as the first African to host the prestigious Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, organizers announced on Thursday.

The 2025 edition of the popular awards show will air live on June 21 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, with Tyla taking center stage as the host.

In addition to her groundbreaking hosting role, Tyla has received two nominations at the event – for Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for 'Show Me Love' with WizTheMc, and bees & honey.

Expressing her excitement about this milestone achievement, Tyla took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday evening, writing: "I'm really about to host the kids choice awards."

The 2025 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards nominations are led by Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga, who received four nominations each. They are closely followed by Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Jelly Roll, and Jack Black with three nominations each.

Tyla's selection as host represents a significant moment for African representation in global entertainment, highlighting the growing influence of African artists on the international stage.

The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards is one of the most popular children's awards shows globally, known for its signature green slime and celebration of favorites in music, film, television, sports, and more, as voted by kids around the world.
