Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has made a startling declaration that his former persona, the 'African Giant', is dead, claiming that "his own people killed him."
The revelation came through a post shared on the official Instagram page of his upcoming album, 'No Sign Of Weakness,' where the artist detailed an internal conflict between his old and new artistic identities.
"The 'African Giant' Burna Boy died. His own people killed him. Then 'Big 7' was born to protect what was left of 'Burna Boy,'" the singer wrote in the emotional post.
Burna Boy further elaborated on the internal struggle between his personas, stating: "Burna Boy and Big 7 fight each other a lot because while Big 7 is only protecting the final and only existing piece of Burna Boy's broken heart, the 'African Giant' still haunts Burna Boy."
This revelation appears to signal a significant artistic evolution for the internationally acclaimed musician, suggesting that fans may witness a new direction in his upcoming album 'No Sign Of Weakness.'
The 'African Giant' was the title of Burna Boy's fourth studio album released in 2019, which earned him his first Grammy nomination and established him as a global music icon. The album title later became synonymous with his artistic identity.
This announcement comes amid an already successful year for the artist, who was recently nominated for the 2025 BET Awards alongside other Nigerian talents including Rema and Ayra Starr.
Fans and music critics are now eagerly anticipating the release of 'No Sign Of Weakness' to see how this new persona, 'Big 7', will manifest in Burna Boy's music and artistic expression.
