Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been hospitalized after being stabbed by a fellow inmate at the California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi, authorities confirmed on Monday.
The 32-year-old artist, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for the 2020 shooting of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion, was reportedly involved in a heated altercation in the prison yard on May 12, 2025, which escalated to violence.
According to reports from TMZ, Lanez was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility by ambulance following the incident. Prison officials have described the injuries as non-life-threatening, though the full extent of his wounds has not been disclosed.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the stabbing, with particular focus on determining the motive behind the attack. No information has been released regarding the identity of the assailant or whether the incident was related to Lanez's high-profile case.
Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted in December 2022 for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during a dispute following a party in Hollywood Hills. During the trial, Megan testified that Lanez had told her to "dance" before opening fire.
The Canadian artist has maintained his innocence throughout the legal proceedings but was ultimately sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023. His legal team has filed appeals against the conviction, which remain pending.
Prison officials have declined to comment on whether additional security measures will be implemented following this incident. Representatives for Lanez have not yet issued a statement regarding his condition.
