The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III, has urged the Nigerian government to adopt a more sophisticated approach to security by equipping agencies with modern technology to combat the rising insurgency across the nation.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, at his palace in Sokoto on Thursday, the Sultan emphasized that peace is fundamental to national development.

"As a retired military officer, I feel it deep down in my heart, the security situation in our country is critical," the Sultan stated. "No society can develop in an atmosphere of insecurity. No matter how wealthy people are, they cannot enjoy their riches if there is no adequate peace in their environment."

The monarch highlighted the urgent need for the government to prioritize national security by empowering security outfits with advanced tools and adequate resources to stay ahead of criminal elements threatening the nation.

"We must use modern technology, intelligence, and proper planning to stay ahead of criminal elements threatening our nation," he added, while calling on all security agencies to remain vigilant and proactive in discharging their duties.

In response, Dr. Ahmed Audi explained that his visit to Sokoto was part of a nationwide tour to interact with NSCDC personnel, assess challenges on the ground, and strengthen operational efficiency.

"It is our tradition to visit the palace and seek parental blessings from His Eminence the Sultan before proceeding with our duties," Dr. Audi noted.

The NSCDC Commandant General expressed gratitude to the Sultan for his consistent support and called for continued collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies to promote peace and resolve conflicts across Nigeria.

This call comes amid increasing security challenges in various parts of the country, with experts suggesting that technological advancement in security operations could significantly improve the government's response to insurgency.
