The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State has strongly criticized Senator Adamu Aliero and two other senators for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing their actions as a betrayal of political trust and an act of ingratitude.

Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, PDP State Chairman Usman Bello Suru expressed disappointment over the senators' decision, reminding them how the party provided a platform for their political survival when they were denied tickets by the APC before the 2023 general elections.

"When the APC rejected them, it was the PDP that gave them a platform and stood by them," Suru stated. "Now, they are returning to the same APC that has inflicted hardship and rising cost of living on Nigerians."

The chairman characterized the defection as driven by selfish ambition rather than the interests of their constituents. "They did not leave for the good of the people. This is purely personal and an act of ingratitude," he emphasized.

Despite this political setback, Suru maintained that the PDP remains resolute and unshaken in Kebbi State. "We are not shaken by their defection. The PDP is still strong and standing firm in Kebbi," he declared.

Senator Adamu Aliero, alongside two other senators from the state, recently announced their return to the APC, a move that has generated significant reactions across Kebbi's political landscape.

The defection comes amid increasing political realignments as parties prepare for future electoral contests, with both the PDP and APC working to strengthen their positions in the North-Western state.
