The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially extended its full support and cooperation to Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Victor Giadom, the APC National Vice-Chairman (South-South), made this commitment in a statement released on Monday, welcoming the governor and other PDP members who have crossed over to the ruling party.

Giadom described Governor Eno's decision to join the APC as "not only timely but also a strategic move" that would enhance collaboration with the Federal Government and create more social and economic opportunities for Akwa Ibom State's accelerated development.

"President Bola Tinubu's bold and unprecedented policy reforms implemented under the Renewed Hope Agenda have continued to draw massive appeal among leaders and people of the South-South region who are keen to work with Mr President and our great party for the full actualisation of the agenda for the progress of the region and the country," Giadom stated.

The APC leader further assured Governor Eno and his supporters of a "massive electoral victory" in the South-South zone in the upcoming 2027 elections.

This high-profile defection comes amid growing political realignments across Nigeria as parties begin positioning for the next electoral cycle.

The move represents a significant shift in Akwa Ibom's political landscape, where the PDP has traditionally maintained strong influence since Nigeria's return to democracy.
