The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State has pledged unity and peace within its ranks as preparations for the 2027 general elections begin to take shape.
During an expanded caucus and stakeholders' meeting held on Saturday at Chief Chive Kaave's residence in Katsina-Ala town, critical party leaders resolved to set aside individual differences and work collaboratively toward building a stronger, more purposeful party ahead of the upcoming elections.
In a significant show of solidarity, the gathering unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Chief Samuel Ortom, the PDP leader in Benue State, acknowledging his exceptional leadership in guiding the party through challenging periods to its current stability.
The stakeholders also expressed appreciation for the Ezekiel Adaji-led State Working Committee's efforts in maintaining smooth operations across all levels of the party structure.
Strategic Resolutions for Party Strengthening
Several key resolutions emerged from the meeting, all aimed at repositioning the PDP for victory in the 2027 elections. Ward chairmen were directed to conduct expanded meetings in their respective jurisdictions to identify and replace members who have defected to other political parties, particularly at the executive levels.
The meeting also acknowledged Hon. Thomas Tyolumun Unongo, a prominent party leader in Zone A Senatorial District, for his donation of a zonal office to the PDP in Katsina-Ala, which is expected to enhance the party's administrative operations.
Mrs. Vera Akua, the State Auditor, emphasized that the party's primary agenda remains reclaiming power from the current administration. She urged members to maintain focus and avoid distractions, stressing that success depends on presenting a united front.
"Our strength lies in our unity. We must work together with a single purpose if we are to reclaim governance in 2027," Akua stated.
New Members Bolster Party Ranks
In a development that further strengthens the party's position, the meeting witnessed the defection of key stakeholders from other political parties, led by Hon. Ape Seza. The new members were warmly welcomed into the PDP fold by the party leadership in Katsina-Ala Local Government.
Notable contributors to the meeting included Hon. Tikaa Desmond, Hon. Dickson Orlu Pawa, Hon. Chive Kaave, Mrs. Juliet Yansha, Hon. Tor Aye, Robert Angir, Akwa Festus, and Hon. Shimataver Aper, among others. All expressed confidence that with the successful exit of factions, the PDP is now stronger and better positioned to reclaim power at all levels in the 2027 elections.
The Katsina-Ala PDP's resolve to unite and work toward a common goal demonstrates the party's determination to serve the people of Benue State once again through electoral victory.
