The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State has officially distanced itself from the purported endorsement of Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, for a third term in office.
In a strongly worded statement signed by the Acting Chairman of the party, Akor Simon, the APC declared that Senator Moro "lacked political legacy and relevance" and vowed to end his third term bid, citing poor representation in the Senate.
"Senator Abba Moro has no legacy project to show for over six years as his achievement, which APC is capable of ending his reign of underdevelopment as a failed Senator, and eagerly waiting to change the narrative in 2027 for APC," the statement read.
The controversy stems from a reported endorsement by a faction of the party led by Itodo Boniface, which allegedly took place at the Senator's Otukpo residence. According to Akor, this group lacks "credibility and substance" to issue such an endorsement.
The LG party chairman dismissed the endorsement as "unwarranted" and the work of "desperate politicians." He called on all APC leaders, stakeholders, members, and supporters to remain calm, committed, and resolute in their efforts to secure all elective seats for the party in upcoming elections.
This development highlights growing tensions within Benue State politics as parties begin positioning for the 2027 general elections, with the APC clearly signaling its intention to challenge Senator Moro's continued representation of the constituency.
