Slovenian club NK Celje have confirmed the signing of Nigerian midfielder Papa Daniel from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Niger Tornadoes.
The 23-year-old midfielder has penned a three-year contract with the Slovenian outfit, marking his second stint abroad after previously playing for Turkish club Adanaspor.
BenriNews reports that Daniel had earlier been in negotiations with Czech side MFK Karviná, but the potential move failed to materialize, paving the way for his transfer to NK Celje.
The talented midfielder has already represented Nigeria at international level, having been part of the Super Eagles squad that clinched victory in the Unity Cup Invitational Tournament held in London this past May.
Daniel was also instrumental in the home-based Super Eagles team that successfully qualified for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), showcasing his abilities on the continental stage.
His move to the Slovenian league represents a significant step in his career progression, offering him the opportunity to develop his skills in European football while potentially increasing his visibility for future national team selections.
The transfer adds to the growing list of Nigerian players securing moves to European clubs this transfer window, highlighting the continued global interest in talent from the NPFL.
